H.J. Mulliner & Mulliner Park Ward
Drop Head Coupe
The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III is the last and most polished version of the Silver Cloud series. It was introduced in 1963 and is often considered the best of the bunch.
Like all Rolls-Royces, the Silver Cloud III is known for being built for a lifetime. Incredibly good build quality and always ready for a smooth ride. Even today, it still feels solid and well-built with a level of quality that is hard to match. That is why many collectors see it as the most desirable Silver Cloud of the series. It's a timeless classic for anyone who wants the real Rolls-Royce experience: A quiet and luxurious ride and built to last for a long time.
This particular example was originally built as a Saloon to USA specifications. It was supplied new to Rolls-Royce Inc., New York in 1964. The car was then sold to a private owner in Florida and remained here until July 1994. The car was then brought back to the United Kingdom. During this ownership the car was converted from a Saloon to a Drophead Coupe (DHC) in style 7504: The traditional DHC by H.J Mulliner (HJM) and later Mulliner Park Ward (MPW). HJM and MPW built this 7504-style DHC for the Silver Cloud I and II. When the Silver Cloud III was introduced, MPW also introduced the new style of Drophead Coupe: The so-called 'Chinese Eyes'. A more modern and sleek convertible compared to the classic-lined style 7504. Customers that wanted the classic DHC could bring their Silver Cloud III Saloon to MPW for a 'DHC adaptation'. MPW would then redesign and craft a beautiful DHC with the same standards as the ones they used to built before. This as an alternative to the 'Chinese-Eyes' DHC.

High quality DHC conversion
Nowadays, Silver Cloud III DHC's and DHC adaptations are very rare, expensive and sought after. In the 90's and early 2000's a few private coach builders and bodyshops in the UK and US got visited by owners of Silver Cloud III's with the question to convert their Saloons into a style-7504 DHC. This DHC-conversion can only be carried out by highly skilled crafstmen, a lot of them working and gaining experience in coach building. If you wanted to match the quality of the 60's, you needed to ask one of these bodyshops/customizers. This particular Silver Cloud III is the living proof of this build quality. The conversion includes the fabrication of the roof mechanism, new wings and sills. As part of the conversion the car has undergone a bare-metal respray, changing the colour to the striking deep blue seen today. The paintwork is in immaculate condition, as is the new black convertible top. New luxurious cream leather trim with stunning blue piping and an elegant new hood makes this car one of the most outstanding examples of a Silver Cloud III drophead. No detail has been overlooked during the work on this car, from the re-chroming of the brightwork to the newly veneered woodwork installed, every little detail being carefully considered and restored to the highest standard. The dark blue carpets compliment the look of the car beautifully. The burr walnut trims have been restored and are in beautiful condition, including those of the occasional picnic tables in the rear. Now boasting four electric windows and a power hood, this beautiful drophead coupé also comes complete with a matching cream leather hood bag, jack and tool kit.

Maintenance history
Mechanically the Silver Cloud is in great condition. In the last years the Rolls-Royce also received a lot of new parts including a new steering box, radiator hoses, thermostat replacement, air conditioning service (including new compressor), new fuel pump, exhaust system, water pump, brake cylinders all round, two new master cylinders, replacement of brake flexi hoses, brake fluid change, oil/filter change, new battery, and replacement of both front anti-roll bar bushes. A list of all parts fitted is available. Since then, the car hasn't driven a lot and was always stored in a heated storage. The car drives like new and is ready to be driven daily. The car is shake and rattle free, while the hood glides up and down at the touch of a button. Various documents and paperworks come with the sale.
