In 2014, Mercedes-AMG introduced a new performance sports car/grand tourer called the 'GT'. The Mercedes-AMG GT R was the most extreme GT of that platform. It was introduced in 2017 as the most track-focused road-going AMG ever built at the time. Developed with extensive input from the Nürburgring, where it earned the nickname "The Beast of the Green Hell," the GT R bridges the gap between a high-performance grand tourer and a true sports car. It combines everyday usability with engineering derived directly from Mercedes-AMG's motorsport programme.

Its long bonnet, wide stance and muscular proportions leave little doubt about its intentions. Compared to the standard AMG GT, the GT R features a wider body, active aerodynamics, lightweight construction and an extensive range of chassis upgrades. Every detail serves a purpose, resulting in a car that is as capable on the road as it is on the circuit.

This particular example was first registered in 2017 and is finished in the iconic Designo Magno Green Hell, the exclusive matte green paint that has become synonymous with the AMG GT R. The exterior is beautifully complemented by yellow brake calipers and a matching interior featuring yellow seat belts and stitching.

Having covered just 23,325 km from new, this GT R remains in outstanding condition. It rides on the original matte-black AMG forged wheels with machined outer edge, measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, perfectly filling the widened wheel arches.

The most powerful of the AMG GT series

'One Man, One Engine'

Under the very long bonnet lies AMG's hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing 585 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Built according to AMG's renowned "One Man, One Engine" philosophy, the V8 delivers immense power across the rev range while producing the soundtrack that has made AMG performance cars so highly regarded.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through AMG's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, mounted at the rear in a transaxle configuration for optimal weight distribution. Together with active rear-wheel steering, electronically controlled adjustable suspension and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, the GT R delivers remarkable agility.

Performance figures are impressive. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.6 seconds, while top speed is 318 km/h. Carbon-fibre aerodynamic components, active cooling systems and sophisticated electronic driver aids ensure that the GT R remains on the track.

This exceptionally well-presented, low-mileage example offers a rare opportunity to own one of AMG's most memorable performance cars.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R Maintenance history

This AMG GT R was first registered in Belgium in August 2017. During its time with the first owner, the car covered around 20,000 km and was maintained every year, regardless of its relatively low annual mileage. On average, it covered only around 2,000 km per year, before being exported to the Netherlands in 2026.

Upon its arrival in the Netherlands, the AMG was immediately offered for sale and was used for a short period afterwards. A few months later, it changed ownership once again, and the car is now offered for sale by HW Exclusive. In total, the car has had 1 owner in Belgium and 2 in the Netherlands.
